“Avengers: Infinity War”

Well, I think I set a new record on catching an early movie….. 9 am!!  This movie is playing on so many screens and at so many times that you can almost walk up to buy a ticket and be assured that it will start very soon.  With my early arrival I also got to see it on this moviehouse’s “Big D”screen, not as big as IMAX but nice nonetheless.

While I have not seen all 18 movies in the recent Marvel series, I have seen quite a few and enjoyed most of them.  This one beats them all.  Almost every character comes uptogether in a big, exciting, funny and visually stunning film.

With everyone joining the fray the running time exceeds two and a half hours, and I would have been perfectly happy if it kept going.

The plot is pretty simple.  Big, bad, purplish Thanos (John Brolin voice) is intent on ruling the universe by capturing all six “Infinity Stones” each with their own special power.  This threat is so frightening that every recruited super hero willingly steps forward to literally save the universe.

The pace is frenetic and the action sequences are wild and wonderful.  The wordplay between the characters even in the most dire circumstances is over the top funny.  Chris Pratt as Star-Lord is particularly entertaining throughout.

A new addition, at least for me is Game of a Thrones Peter Dinklage, who plays the oxymoronic giant dwarf, Etri, who is a master weapons maker.  He is commissioned to make a new weapon for Thor to take into battle.

There are way too many people to rave about in this film but I will refrain.  Do yourself a favor and let the kid in you take you to see this film soon.  It will likely break box office records and justifiably so.

The best news is that the second half of the “end game” story is already in the can and will hit the theaters next year.  Maybe there will be an 8 am showing!

Born in Boston's South End where I spent my early childhood. I remember going to matinees at The National Theatre where for ten cents I could sit in the balcony and enjoy two feature films, a cartoon and a serial. Those were the days! We moved to Western Mass (the country) and I completed my education through college there. I served in the U.S. Army with the 101st Airborne Division and went on to work for Bristol Myers Squibb for thirty years; traveling all over he world. Since retiring, have lived in Tallahassee, Fl and Leesburg, VA while raising our youngest son, Jake. My wife, Jennifer and I currently split our time between homes in Florida and Maine. We have three great kids (Shawn, Shannon & Jake), two wonderful kids "in law" ( Jenn & Steve) and five amazing grandchildren (Connor, Shana, Sophia, Bodie, & Sully). Hope this site offers them an opportunity to see another side of "Dad", "Jerryman" and "Grandpa"! Since retire
