Set in Northern California, a young couple in love score the use of a spectacular home for the weekend. She is a reporter who is embroiled in a major disagreement with her editor about The quality of her work. and he is a nice, down to earth guy who is a gifted automobile mechanic. She’s been hurt more than once and is wary, but he is madly in love with a ring at the ready to pop the question. His buddy who arranged the use of the house is a successful sports agent and comes complete with all of the stereotypical obnoxiousness.
The action unfolds with an altercation at a rural gas station with a handful of biker creeps. After settling into the dream house complete with infinity pool, the bad guys show up and all hell breaks loose. Everything is pretty predictable from there with an ample amount of violence and bloodshed.
Although several in the cast are recognizable from other work, the film has no headliners. I usually love that in that it’s great to see new talent get a chance to shine. Unfortunately this film doesn’t provide a decent vehicle to do so.
There is an attempt here to call attention to the global tragedy of human trafficking but it fails to make a compelling case.
My strong suggestion is to save your money on this one and maybe grab a bite to eat instead.
